It was always going to be a difficult test for the new Sat B1 team as having switched both from Sunday to Saturday football as well as going up a tier, they were handed a season opener versus the divisions pre-summer runaway winners. And so it proved with a final score of Mountview 7   –  Park Celtic 2.

A physically tough and skilful Blanchardstown outfit showed that little bit of extra savvy required at this level. Park Celtic travelled lean with no bench but nonetheless acquitted themselves well in an attritional game.
On another day, had a couple of shots gone the right side of the woodwork for Park, or a couple of theirs done the opposite, a tighter margin may have been recorded. Despite no substitutes, the lads battled well and were still creating opportunities well into the second half.
Indeed the second goal came with 10 mins to go and tired legs kept going to the end. A good exercise in where we must aim in this division following back to back local pre-season victories versus other divisional stablemates Cabinteely FC and Granada FC.
Onwards and upwards for Sat B1!
