On a week where Ireland’s Met Office went into overdrive on the projections of storm Lorenzo and associated warnings, DDSL were taking no chances and issued a blanket OFF for the weekend programme. Undeterred, both Ballybrack FC and Park Celtic agreed to play the home PC fixture anyway, as a friendly on Ballybrack’s astro.  First half was a very well balanced game of football with both sides putting together slick moves on the carpet like surface. Park might have hit the front early on but were denied a clear run on goal by a very dubious offside. But it wasn’t long coming when minutes later another good piece of play again resulted in a referee intervention and award of a penalty to the visitors for a clear hand ball. Penalty supremo Dave Mannix dispatched a fierce shot to the keepers right to put Park up 1-0 after 15 mins. Ballybrack came straight back at us and were making goal  opportunities on a number of visits deep into our half, eventually unlocking our defence with a very high press on kick outs.  1-1.

The second half was a very different story. For the first 10 minutes it remained a level affair with both sides still looking like scoring. Jake, Dan and Oisin were keeping the yellows at bay with some excellent defensive work. But as the game went on our tactical nous was showing as Hugo did some great damage in midfield winning ball back and finding a free player in burgundy. While Ryan and Callum were constantly testing Ballybrack’s full backs with excellent supply in behind them for the wingers to exploit. Before long, passes were finding teammates with great fluidity and Met Eireann got their predicted weather as the floodgates opened. Wave after wave of Park Celtic attack produced a somewhat flattering scoreline with a lot of late goals.
