Park Celtic U17 played their first match v Mulhuddart since the Christmas break on a pitch in Meadowvale that could best be described as borderline playable. The fixture scheduling of 3 games on the pitch on one day certainly made it difficult for either team to play passing football. As is the norm for this team they started slowly and allowed Mulhuddart to gain confidence and build up some promising attacks.Park were starting to create  with David and Mark getting the ball wide and getting the crosses in and only a combination of unlucky finishing and some super goalkeeping kept it scoreless.
Mulhuddart got a corner and some slack marking allowed a free header which was guided well into the far corner. This seem to wake up Park and they laid siege to the Mulhuddart goal and Adam got a super solo goal after jinking through 2 players in the box to finish coolly in the bottom corner.Mulhuddart main attack was coming from their number 10 who was showing clever movement and pacy running off the ball. Park got caught again when trying to see a ball out over the end line  and it got whipped across catching Killian by surprise and then getting tapped in by the number 10. The referee was letting a lot of physical challenges from Mulhuddart go without action as he was allowing the pitch conditions to give them the benefit of the doubt
The second half followed the pattern of the first with Park showing more urgency and Mulhuddart being penned back and eventually Park got their reward when a perfect through ball by Adam was finished with the outside of his boot by Ruben. At this point you could see only one team winning but Mulhuddart won a corner and like in the first half ,they were given a free header which went in off the post.It was now 3-2 and the pitch was getting worse but Park then dominated from now till the end with another flowing move finished by Adam into the top corner to make it 3-3. Park now went looking for the winner with Shane, Noah, Matthew and Rob keeping the Mulhuddart attack quiet , Park started to create chance after chance  with the Mulhuddart goalkeeper (Man of the match) using every part of his body to keep the ball out and one shot striking the post.
Park just couldn’t get the  winner they deserved and you could tell by the different reactions of the teams as the full time whistle went with Mulhuddart celebrating while Park knew it was a match they should have got the 3 points from.
Couldn’t fault the effort of the team and they will be better after this match.
