U13 girls continue run with goal fest win over Portmarnock
In a thrilling game Park Celtic U13 girls beat a strong Portmarnock side 9-4 on a chilly Sunday to continue their 100% record and maintain their lead at the top of the league.
The side was captained by Niv, who had been nominated as Most Valued Player in the win over Manortown. She led by example with a committed, energetic display.
Commitment is a team value; Harriet, who was visiting her grandparents in Galway, got her mum up at 6am on Sunday morning to drive her back up for the game. Not that this impacted her performance and she marshalled our midfield with strength and purpose.
A fantastic display by Giorgia in goal, who made some excellent saves, really inspired confidence in the team. She also cleared the ball brilliantly out of hand and from kick-outs. Indeed the whole defence was very strong. Sophie put in some powerful tackling and took the ball forward brilliantly. Aoife Mc showed excellent bravery and put in some great tackles. She was a deserving MVP winner and will captain the team next week.
In midfield Elissa, Grace and Anna linked up brilliantly together and got the ball forward to our forwards; each of them contributing assists to our goal tally.
And up front Amelie (3 goals) and Jaiden (6 goals) were too strong for Portmarnock’s defence. That brings Jaiden’s season total to 29 goals in nine games.
A well deserved win for our u13 girls who continue their run. The beaming smiles continue amongst this wonderful bunch of girls. Many thanks to all the mums and dads who came along to cheer the team on.
MVP: Aoife McGlynn – captain next game
Next Game: Home tie vs Knocklyin Utd 11.30 OBR Sunday 28th November. All welcome.
