U12 Division 2 Road to the Evening Herald Cup

A first for Park Celtic to have a team compete for top honours in an age group will see our U12 Division 2 boys set to compete in the Evening Herald Cup on the 26th of May at 2:30 P.m. The road to the final has been a test for the lads playing several excellent teams, the boys began their cup run with a home fixture against a familiar foe of Terenure Rangers in which Park came away 3-1 winners with goals. This win saw the boys book a Quarter-Final against local rivals Granda Fc which from previous games would prove to be a game with fireworks and it produced more than anybody could have predicted every aspect of the game produced performances of desire and dedication to reach the semi-final, neither team could be separated by normal time needing the intervention of penalties to separate the local rivals. Thanks to the penalty heroics of goalkeeper Cillian, Park came away winners in the shootout thus booking a spot in the semi-final. The semi-final draw revealed an unknown opposition of Division 1 Portmarnock who no doubt wanted a place in the final just as much as Park did would prove to be Park's greatest test. The semi-final match showcased Park's resilience, dedication and desire to reach the Evening Herald Cup final, despite conceding only 10 seconds into the game. Park showed their resilience to not let the early goal affect their game thanks to moments of brilliance from Mark twice, Freddie chipping the goalkeeper from 20 yards out, and a bullet header from Oscar. Park had done the unimaginable and were 10 minutes away from a place in the final, despite a late resurgence from Portmarnock who to their credit pulled two back the game was finished. Park Celtic Under 12 Division 2 had booked themselves a place in the Evening Herald Cup Final on the 26th of May at 2:30 P.M. to face local rivals St. Josephs FC. The club would like to wish the U12 Boys the best of luck with their final and commend them on their hard work and dedication this season. And also a massive thanks to their coaches who’ve continued to succeed in developing these boys and creating a fantastic atmosphere to play football.
